We also have significant experience and knowledge in photovoltaic solar power systems as designers and systems integrators as a separate division under Powertronic (powertronic.com.au). We design and install photovoltaic solar systems grid-connected, on the grid backup and off-grid connected power systems.
We have experience across whole life-cycle for any type of project hardware and software based on sound systems engineering principles. From capturing customer requirements, developing concepts, requirements analysis through to all levels of documentation, our team of engineers are highly skilled across all of the requirements of a project. Our range of engineering services also include support for business case development; updating, issuing of tenders and review of tenders, contract negotiation and execution, through to system acceptance and transition into in-service support.
WIDECOM engineers are accredited to design for the installation of both overhead and underground network assets, including substations/kiosks. We are able to undertake the design of contestable work* on behalf of the client for the augmentation of the supply authority network in Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy network areas. Contestable designs involve Design (Level 3 ASP) and construction (Level 1 ASP) of:
- New or upgraded connection to the supply authority network, or
- Asset relocation works requested and funded by the developer. Level 1 ASP needs to be selected to implement Level 3 ASP design
- Level 3 ASP can carry out project management on behalf of the client and do the following non-exhaustive list
- Lodge applications for new connections on behalf of the customer, including maximum demand assessment
- Prepare Environmental Impact Assessment and carry out community consultation
- Earth resistance testing
- Private installation cable and equipment specifications, including protection and fault current calculations
- Obtaining certified network plans that can be used by the customer to obtain quotations for the installation works from Level 1 Accredited Service Providers
- Prepare network plans as per the supply authorities standards
- Specify equipment required to meet the supply authorities requirements
We also specialise in building services in industrial, commercial and domestic power reticulation systems, including fire services and safety systems, building automation systems, mechanical services, hydraulics services, lightning protection, ecological sustainability and energy management and audit services.
We are also experienced in system safety programs, conducting system safety design assessments and the development of System Safety Cases in safety critical systems in defence (maritime, land, air, ordnance), medical and electrical power reticulation systems.
